Job summary
Expected Salary Range: $43.95 - $56.08 Hourly The salary range shown above reflects the expected compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification. The Fleet Mechanic inspects, repairs, and maintains automotive, mobile, hydraulic, portable, and stationary equipment. This posting is to fill up to one (1) position, which is an existing vacancy. Toronto Hydro reserves the right, in alignment with the applicable collective agreement, to finalize the number of positions filled. Days/Shifts: 40 hours per week, evening shift (Monday-Thursday evening shift (2:30pm to 12:30am). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates safety awareness and adheres to safety rules and regulations Familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act, Utility, and EUSA Rule Books Conducts and/or directs work in a manner that is sensitive to customer and public needs Performs inspections and tests on vehicles and equipment and completes documentation as required Diagnose and perform maintenance and repairs to vehicles and equipment as required Uses gas and electric welding equipment for repair work and fabrications Processes work orders and inspection forms as required Maintains work equipment and tools in a safe working condition Maintain, update and prepare files, reports, records and documentation Initiate, receive and satisfy inquiries or complaints by telephone, in person or by correspondence Performs duties of equal or lower classification providing they are within their experience and training, Operates vehicle and associated equipment REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a Truck and Coach Technician Certificate (310T) Valid Class “DZ” Driver's Licence in the Province of Ontario, or willing to obtain if selected Thorough knowledge of hydraulics Ontario Grade 12 or equivalent Automotive Service Technician Certificate (310S) preferred Knowledgeable in safety regulations, rules, and procedures Demonstrated experience in a variety of business computer software packages Proficiency using diagnostic tools and software (e.g., Cummins, INSITE, etc.) Experience working with Drive On systems or comparable fleet management / maintenance platforms Ability to diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on engine systems Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service data TOTAL REWARDS To support the overall well-being and success of our employees, Toronto Hydro provides a comprehensive total rewards package which includes: 100% employer paid Health & Dental benefits 24/7 access to Employee & Family Assistance Program and Virtual Healthcare Company-paid life insurance and long term disability Spending account to support fitness goals (e.g. gym memberships) Competitive paid time off (including vacation and parental leave) Defined Benefits Pension Plan through OMERS Career development and tuition reimbursement Exciting employee engagement and appreciation events throughout the year Toronto Hydro is committed to leveraging new technologies to support an efficient and inclusive recruitment process.
