About

The vision of the Toronto Public Library Foundation is to build a city of lifelong readers, learners and creators for a successful Toronto. This is accomplished by inspiring giving in support of exemplary collections, ground-breaking programs and services, and innovative community spaces at Toronto Public Library. TPL is the biggest and busiest public library system in North America. With 100 branches across the city and over 1.2 million registered library card holders, the Library makes Toronto more resilient, knowledgeable, connected and successful. TPL empowers Torontonians to thrive in the digital age and global knowledge economy. With expanded access to technology, lifelong learning and diverse cultural and leisure experiences, Torontonians have increased opportunities for growth and success, as well as stronger connections to each other and their communities. Since its inception in 1997, the Toronto Public Library Foundation has raised over $108 million thanks to generous donors. Donations have a resounding impact on those who rely on the Library’s vast resources and welcoming spaces. Donor-funded initiatives would not be possible without the generosity and steadfast commitment of our community who have chosen to give to support the important work of Toronto Public Library.
