Job details
Our client, a civil contractor in the Greater Vancouver Area, specializes in underground wet utilities (water, sanitary, storm), deep excavations, and complex urban work. They are seeking a Senior Project Coordinator to support the planning and delivery of municipal and private utility projects across the Lower Mainland. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with Project Managers and Site Superintendents to coordinate underground wet utility projects, including watermains, force mains, gravity sewers, storm systems, manholes, chambers, and services. Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and project requirements to identify scope gaps, conflicts, and potential risks. Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and project documentation. Support project scheduling, look-ahead planning, procurement, and coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, materials, and inspections. Track quantities, costs, commitments, and progress to support forecasting, progress billing, and budget control. Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations, prepare purchase orders, and monitor deliveries. Coordinate with municipalities, consultants, inspectors, and utility providers regarding permits, approvals, tie-ins, and testing requirements. Maintain accurate records, including meeting minutes, drawing revisions, site reports, as-builts, and quality documentation. Support project teams with documentation for trenching, shoring, dewatering, bypass pumping, backfill, and road restoration in accordance with MMCD and municipal specifications. Coordinate project close-out, including deficiencies, testing records, turnover packages, and final documentation. Take ownership of assigned scopes and support junior coordinators as required. Ideal Candidate Requirements: 2+ years of project coordination experience in civil construction, with a strong background in underground wet utilities. Experience supporting municipal infrastructure, deep services, live tie-ins, and projects in busy urban environments. Strong understanding of MMCD, municipal standards, and permitting and inspection processes across the Lower Mainland. Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, profiles, specifications, and shop drawings. Proven experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, quantity tracking, and cost reporting. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple project scopes. Effective communicator who builds productive relationships with field teams, subcontractors, owners, consultants, and inspectors. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project management software. A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is an asset; equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Valid BC driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the Lower Mainland. Why this Company? Competitive base salary of $90,000–$120,000 per year, with annual reviews. Annual bonus program. Group RRSP with company match. 100% company-paid benefits, including extended health, dental, vision, and disability. Paid vacation and personal days, plus a holiday shutdown. Parental leave top-up and EAP. Strong pipeline of municipal wet utility work across the Lower Mainland. Interested candidates are encouraged to send their resumes in Word format to jeremy.cymbaluk@torustalent.com.
