Position Summary Reporting to the Branch Manager/Specialized Transportation Manager, the Platform Trailer Driver is responsible for the safe and professional transportation of equipment in compliance with company and customer policies and procedures as well as government regulation. This position is fulltime and is based out of our Leduc location. Time Commitment On call as required - You may be required from time to time to work outside these hours as the need arises. Schedule may be altered at the discretion of management. Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following): Duties and Responsibilities: * Read and understand transport plans beforehand successfully carrying out assignments. * Assemble and configure heavy haul equipment / platform trailers. * Visually inspect all systems on a regular basis and prior to each movement to ensure compliance. with appropriate standards, codes, specifications, and procedures. * Ensure all transported loads are within load limits of equipment and correctly secured. * Pilot over dimensional loads. * Communicate and direct tractor operators as required. * Operate the trailers in various configurations as required. * Hold toolbox meetings in a constructive and contributing manner. * Carry out any other relevant activities which can be reasonably demanded and/or which are necessary in the company’s interest. * Ability to communicate and interact effectively. * Ability to remain alert and maintain a high level of concentration. * Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation. * Time management skills. * Good judgement and the ability to react quickly in emergency situations. * Understand the operations and limitations of the equipment. * Mechanical ability to make minor repairs when needed. * Diagnose issues in the field and communicate to fleet / management. Qualifications and Experience: * Possess a minimum of 1 - 3 years of previous experience operating trailers and / or hydraulic platform trailers. * The driver must be in possession of a valid Class 1 driver’s license and well as all required training certificates. * Supervision experience would be an asset. * Ability to travel to the USA.
