Our client, a growing manufacturer of custom equipment for the mining and industrial sectors, is seeking a Lead Mechatronics Engineer to strengthen its electrical and automation capabilities. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you will influence engineering standards, guide projects from concept through commissioning, and help shape the future of the controls team. PERKS AND BENEFITS: Take ownership of a growing controls engineering discipline and influence its future direction Work on complex, custom-engineered equipment for mining and industrial applications Lead projects through the full lifecycle, from concept and design to FAT and commissioning Mentor junior engineers and technologists while remaining technically hands-on Join an established, growing organization with long-term advancement opportunities Receive competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Establish and lead the company’s controls engineering discipline, including standards, templates, and best practices Design, review, approve, and seal electrical control systems, schematics, wiring diagrams, and related engineering documents Develop, review, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications using Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, IQAN, and other automation platforms Ensure designs comply with CSA, CEC, UL, NFPA, IEC, machinery safety, and customer requirements Lead Factory Acceptance Testing and support Site Acceptance Testing, equipment commissioning, and customer start-up Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, and technologists WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE: A bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline A P.Eng. designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario, with the ability to review, approve, and seal engineering documents At least five years of industrial controls and automation engineering experience Strong experience with PLC programming, HMI development, electrical controls, VFDs, and industrial automation systems Knowledge of applicable CSA, CEC, UL, NFPA, IEC, and machinery safety standards Strong engineering judgment, leadership abilities, and experience supporting FAT, SAT, and equipment commissioning ABOUT US: TPD is a leading workforce solutions provider with a mission to help individuals succeed by providing access to opportunities in jobs, careers, and professional development.
