This position is tailored for a stylist who holds or is looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE). In Canada, the Red Seal in Hairstyling represents a mastery of both the artistry and the chemistry of the trade. Whether you are a certified Journeyperson or a senior apprentice in your final level of training, you will be expected to uphold the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS), delivering high-end services while maintaining the strict health and safety standards required by the national benchmark. Core Responsibilities In accordance with the national standards for the Hairstylist trade, your primary duties include: Consultation & Assessment: Perform professional hair and scalp analyses. Conduct thorough client consultations to determine style goals, lifestyle compatibility, and chemical history. Precision Cutting & Styling: Execute advanced cutting techniques for all hair types and textures using shears, razors, and clippers. Master styling techniques including thermal setting, up-dos, and braiding. Chemical Services: Perform complex color applications (balayage, foiling, color correction) and chemical texture services (permanent waving, relaxing). Ensure precise mixing and timing based on hair porosity and elasticity. Hair & Scalp Treatments: Recommend and apply specialized treatments for hair repair and scalp health. Sanitation & Safety: Adhere to rigorous infection control and salon sanitation protocols as outlined by provincial health authorities and the RSOS. Business Operations: Manage client bookings, maintain detailed chemical service records, and provide expert retail recommendations to support client home-care. Mentorship: If certified, provide technical guidance and sign off on hours for junior apprentices. If finishing requirements, work with our senior stylists to master Major Work Activities (MWAs) such as advanced color theory and specialized cutting. Qualifications & Requirements Certification Status: Must be a Journeyperson or a Senior Apprentice currently looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE). Technical Mastery: Strong knowledge of color wheel principles, chemical reactions, and facial morphology for style selection. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts and perform repetitive fine-motor movements with hands and wrists. Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build a loyal client base through professional service. Trend Awareness: A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on modern techniques and industry trends. Salary: 35 - 45 GBP Per hour
