Position Overview The firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Law Clerk to join their growing team. This role will involve managing a diverse range of files within a general commercial litigation practice, including contractual disputes and commercial mortgage enforcement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a strong grasp of the Rules of Civil Procedure, and a commitment to clear, professional communication with clients and internal team members. Key Responsibilities Manage general commercial litigation matters from file opening through to the enforcement of judgments Draft, edit, and serve legal documents including Statements of Claim, Motion Records, and Affidavits of Documents Coordinate and manage discoveries, including the preparation of discovery plans and tracking undertakings Prepare and process documents related to commercial debt recovery and security enforcement proceedings Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining proactive and professional communication regarding file status Collaborate within a team, supporting lawyers and other clerks to ensure all court and notice deadlines are strictly met Core Competencies Strong Attention to Detail: Demonstrates accuracy in preparing and reviewing complex legal documents, ensuring adherence to the Rules of Civil Procedure and statutory requirements. Efficiency Under Pressure: Capable of working quickly without sacrificing quality, consistently meeting tight deadlines and managing competing priorities across a varied caseload. Exceptional Communication: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully with clients and opposing counsel. Teamwork: Works collaboratively within the group, supports other clerks, and contributes positively to the team environment.
