The firm is known for its collaborative culture, supportive leadership, and commitment to excellence. Position Overview The firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their dynamic team. This role provides essential legal support to the litigation group. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, proficiency with Ontario court filings and procedures, and a proactive, professional approach to file management and client service. Key Responsibilities Document Preparation & Formatting: Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motion records, affidavits, and correspondence from precedents or dictation. Court Filings & Service: Serve and file legal materials via Ontario court portals (e.g., Justice Services Online/Civil Submissions, CaseLines) in compliance with the Rules of Civil Procedure. Calendar & Deadline Management: Maintain lawyers' calendars, track statutory deadlines, schedule examinations for discovery, mediations, and court dates. File & Administrative Support: Open and close client files, organize electronic/physical records, process lawyer dockets, and prepare client billing packages. Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, process servers, court clerks, and opposing counsel, taking detailed messages and managing inquiries. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with lawyers, law clerks, and other assistants to maintain efficient office workflow and support team needs. Core Competencies Strong Attention to Detail: Absolute precision in formatting court documents, proofreading, and managing critical limitation dates. Efficiency Under Pressure: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight court deadlines while handling multiple file demands. Exceptional Communication: Clear, professional, and courteous written and verbal communication skills. Teamwork & Initiative: Works collaboratively within the group, offering proactive assistance to ensure seamless file progression.
