About the Role We are seeking a motivated Junior Piping Designer to join our EPCM team in Calgary supporting oil & gas facility projects across Western Canada. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an early-career designer to gain experience in the design and layout of piping systems for upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities. Working closely with senior piping designers, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will support the development of piping layouts, 3D models, and construction drawings for facilities including well pads, compressor stations, gas plants, pipelines, pump stations, and facility expansions. Key Responsibilities Assist in the development of piping design deliverables including: -Plot plans -Process Flow Diagrams -Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams -Piping plans and layouts -Isometric drawings -3D piping models Prepare and revise drawings using AutoCAD, CADWorx, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar software Interpret and work from P&IDs, equipment layouts, and engineering specifications Support piping routing and equipment integration activities Participate in interdisciplinary coordination with process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams Assist with material take-offs and piping component lists Support field verification, site visits, and as-built updates as required Ensure designs comply with applicable client standards, industry codes, and safety requirements Maintain drawing quality, consistency, and document control throughout project execution Qualifications Diploma or degree in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, Process Piping Drafting, or a related discipline 0–3 years of experience in piping or industrial design Familiarity with AutoCAD and exposure to CADWorx, AutoCAD Plant 3D or other 3D modeling software Basic understanding of piping design principles and industrial facility layouts Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and engineering drawings Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Exceptional communication skills and teamwork abilities Willingness to learn within a fast-paced EPCM environment Preferred Qualifications Exposure to oil & gas facility projects in upstream or midstream sectors Knowledge of piping codes and standards including ASME and CSA requirements Familiarity with pipe supports, routing practices, and constructability considerations Experience with brownfield facility modifications or field construction support Eligibility for registration with ASET What We Offer Competitive compensation and benefits package Mentorship from experienced engineering and design professionals Exposure to a variety of oil & gas projects and clients Professional development and career growth opportunities Collaborative and technically focused work environment The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, a quick learner and have excellent communication skills.
