The Development Assistant, Principal Giving (DAPG) is part of the Principal Giving Team and provides administrative and donor support for the Principal Giving, Corporate, and Foundation teams. Reporting to the Director, Principal Giving & Strategic Partnerships (DPGSP), the DAPG helps prepare proposals and outcome reports, coordinate donor communications and events, and maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce. This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting range for this position is $25.01 to $27.33 per hour. Main Duties & Responsibilities Development Duties and Responsibilities * Assist the Director, Principal Giving & Strategic Partnerships (DPGSP) in the development and implementation of donor engagement strategies spanning education, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. * Assist the DPGSP and Development Officers in preparing proposals, outcome reports, and grant applications by gathering program information, key performance indicators, statistics, pictures, and related stories. * Create initial outcome reports for solicitors when necessary, and a general quarterly outcome report for stewardship and cultivation use by both teams. * Merge and prepare larger mailings, such as Christmas/Easter cards and fall "general" proposals. * Regularly adapt outcome reports created by Annual and Special Giving for Principal Giving/Corporate Giving use. * Prepare poinsettias and spring pots for Principal Giving/Corporate Giving. * Assist with receipts, notes, and mailings when necessary. * Help coordinate Creative Services projects (e.g., Fall Appeal materials, campaign updates) and conduct research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors and new funding opportunities. * Prepare invitations, letters/cards, education pieces, and outcome reports for mailing to donors and groups. * Schedule meetings and tours with donors/groups, and meet with and tour donors when necessary. * Work with donors on inquiries, gift-in-kind donations, volunteering, tours, and cultivation events. * Make thank-you phone calls to donors, communicating UGM's mission and heart in changing lives through the continuum of care. * Create PowerPoint presentations and stewardship pieces. * Consolidate, organize, and catalog program updates and statistics from other departments and Resource Development for solicitors' use. * Update Corporate Giving/Principal Giving team KPI and WIG numbers. * Help manage the corporate, foundation, and principal giving general mailbox and respond to general volunteer inquiries. * Document processes and procedures, and create a photo/story bank. * Provide out-of-office coverage for solicitors. * Work closely with Gift Processing to ensure donor/group changes are accurately made in Salesforce. * Maintain a thorough understanding of Salesforce and assist with creating reports and global updates. * Other duties as required. General * Adhere to all UGM published policies, practices, and procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety. * Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * College or University certification, or 1-3 years of fundraising experience, customer relations, or a related field. * Consideration may be given to alternate combinations of lived experience and education. * Ability to respectfully take direction from others. * Strong administrative, analytical, and decision-making skills. * Demonstrated ability to deal with highly sensitive and confidential material and situations. * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of constituents. * Working knowledge of Salesforce is an asset. * Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office programs, PowerPoint, and Adobe. * Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Working Conditions * Work Location — Work is generally performed indoors within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. * Physical Requirements — Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, or reaching for up to 10% of the time. Employee is required to look at a computer screen and use a keyboard for up to 90% of the time. * Work Conditions — Working environment is generally favourable. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Work is performed amid normal conditions of dust, odours, fumes, and noises. * Hours of Work — Some overtime may be required. * Hazards — Hazards are considered minor and controllable. * Other — Due to the nature of the job, and our commitment to a safe environment, the candidate is subject to a criminal record check.
