Responsible to and under the general supervision of the Bartender and Operations Manager, the Server is responsible for carrying out the procedures necessary to maintain a high standard of customer service and room cleanliness. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides table service by taking and delivering food and beverage orders. Responsible for ensuring that customers consistently receive a high level of customer service offered with a positive attitude, in accordance with Students' Union policies. Responsible for handling cash for the products sold and for the total cash-out value of items sold on each shift. Responsible for maintaining table, room and bar area cleanliness, including regular bussing and wiping of tables and ensuring floor surface cleanliness. Monitoring patron levels of intoxication and taking appropriate action when necessary in accordance with established Server intervention procedures and provincial liquor laws. To enforce the AGLC Liquor Control Act, the Alberta Health Services Act, U of A and Students’ Union regulations and policies. Perform other job-related duties as required by the Operations Manager. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Alberta Grade 12 or equivalent. One year Experience preferred but not necessary. Must have passed ‘Proserve’ training within the first two weeks of employment. Personal cleanliness and dress in accordance with Students' Union policy. Experience operating an Interac terminal and processing charge card transactions. Ability to deal with staff, students and the general public in a professional, friendly and diplomatic manner.
