Job summary
The Horowitz Events Centre is looking for friendly and reliable customer service oriented individuals to join our front of house team! Our Events Centre regularly run a wide variety of events within our venues in the Students’ Union Building, as well as across the University of Alberta’s North Campus. Our venues include Horowitz Theatre, Dinwoodie Lounge and Room at the Top. We also manage all meeting rooms in SUB. All staff are scheduled based on when shift are available depending on event needs. There is no set schedule - staff sign up for the shifts they are able to work. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee Event Staff performing various roles throughout the course of events, including assigning tasks, coordinating breaks, and providing coaching/feedback when necessary Provide an exceptional level of customer service to our clients and patrons Lead the Events Staff team towards the successful execution of each event Maintain clear communication with other members of the HEC team (bar, box office, technicians, kitchen, etc.) to ensure events run smoothly from start to finish Ensure the successful execution of catered events, including maintaining food service protocols Complete event reports with each shift, including sales reconciliation as required Maintain the safety and cleanliness of event sites Perform other job-related duties as required QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with front of house or hospitality operations is required Experience with leading a team and general staff supervision is required Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, including problem solving and thinking on your feet Available to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends Excellent work habits, including strong attention to detail and communication skills ProServe and ProTect training - will be provided free of charge Valid First Aid certification (CPR AED Level C or greater) Valid Class 5 Driver’s License Ability to lift 10kg (22lbs) on occasion This is a part-time casual position, as the frequency and length of shifts varies depending on our bookings. Requirements
Requires experience in front of house or hospitality operations and staff supervision. Candidates must hold valid First Aid/CPR certification and a Class 5 Driver's License.
