Description The Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Coordinator, Youth Mental Health Interprofessional Training. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. The University of Calgary (UCalgary) is in the early stages of developing a pilot youth mental health interprofessional training program (YMH-ITP) to enhance skills and build capacity among post-secondary students preparing for practicum placements and careers in community youth mental health, including Integrated Youth Services (IYS) settings across Canada. This program is grounded in research and will generate evidence to inform youth mental health workforce development, training approaches, and service delivery in IYS and post-secondary contexts. The training program will unfold in three phases: information gathering, pilot program development, and implementation/evaluation. It is being done in partnership with Alberta's IYS network (Kickstand) and the IYS Collaboration Centre at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. The program will prioritize input from trainees and clinical supervisors from IYS settings like Kickstand centres to ensure relevance and impact. A learning health system (LHS) approach will support ongoing data collection, evaluation, and knowledge to inform continuous improvement. Reporting to the Senior Specialist, Interprofessional Training, Research & Practice, the Coordinator will play a primary role in research and pilot training program development, and a secondary role assisting with the concept development for the proposed undergraduate student mental health clinic. Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Project Coordination Support the Senior Specialist, Interprofessional Training, Research & Practice, in the planning, coordination, and execution of projects and key IYS LHS deliverables Coordinate and facilitate meetings, workshops, webinars, expert roundtables, and other engagement activities, including logistics, materials, facilitation, and follow-up Co-facilitate trainee advisory activities, and support ongoing engagement with trainees Prepare agendas, background materials, presentations and meeting summaries and track action items to ensure timely follow-up Provide regular updates and assist with reporting on project progress, implementation, and outcomes Liaise with internal and external partners, including Kickstand and the IYS Collaboration Centre to support coordination and alignment of activities Monitor project activities, identify issues, and support the development of solutions, including adjustments to project scope, objectives, timelines, or workflows as needed Provide subject-matter expertise on surveys, environmental scans, literature reviews, evaluation activities, and training curriculum development Research and Knowledge Development Conduct and support literature reviews, (e.g. scoping reviews) and environmental scans related to youth mental health and IYS Support qualitative and mixed-methods research activities, including data collection and analysis (e.g., descriptive analysis, thematic analysis) Contribute to the planning, coordination and implementation of key informant interviews with trainees and clinical supervisors Assist with survey design, administration, data management, and analysis, including drafting questions, coordinating distribution, monitoring responses, and interpreting findings to inform pilot program development Contribute to recommendations to enhance processes and approaches for surveys, scoping reviews, environmental scans, and evaluation activities to strengthen the program and organizational outcomes Develop and contribute to internal and external materials, including reports, analyses, briefing notes, and presentations tailored to different audiences Coordinate research activities, including research ethics board submissions, manuscript preparation, and other knowledge products Examine the research landscape, emerging trends and community needs in priority areas to inform priority setting and program planning Facilitate engagement with students, trainees, and clinical supervisors through consultations and participatory research activities Evaluation Monitor and report progress toward project outcomes Acquire, compile, and analyze, data to support evaluation, program planning, and knowledge mobilization Collaborate on the development and implementation of evaluation frameworks and tools to assess feasibility, acceptability, and impact of the training program Support data integration, analysis, synthesis and reporting to inform pilot program development, evaluation and knowledge mobilization Contribute to the development of reports and other knowledge products. Communications Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including trainees, clinical supervisors, researchers, community organizations, provincial and territorial IYS networks and government stakeholders Prepare high-quality and audience-appropriate presentations, slide decks, and other knowledge-sharing materials for meetings, conferences, and webinars Prepare meeting agendas, materials, minutes, and summaries to support effective communication and knowledge sharing Qualifications / Requirements: A research-based Master's degree in health research or health services, (health sciences, social sciences, or education) ideally within the youth mental health research domain A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered Knowledge of, and experience in, the youth mental health sector Experience supporting research activities, including information gathering through literature reviews (e.g., scoping reviews), environmental scans, surveys and interviews Experience with qualitative and mixed methods data analysis (e.g. descriptive analysis, thematic analysis) Familiarity with research ethics processes and preparing research ethics submissions Experience with survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics) would be an asset Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, trainees and community partners Understanding of Canada's academic health research and health systems environment, including public health, and community-based health service delivery would be an asset Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgement, and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint) and e-mail applications Application Deadline: August 30, 2026 We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
