Description The Department of English invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach the following block week course in Winter 2027 (Jan 04, 2027 - Jan 08, 2027). Winter 2027 Courses of Instruction: Advanced Topics: Popular/Experimental Topics in Genre (The Comics Form) ENGL 529.6, SEM 01/ENGL 603.31, SEM 01 - Block Week MTWRF 09:00 - 17:00 (In person) Position Requirements: PhD in English or related field Evidence of successful teaching of English courses at a post-secondary level Evidence of current expertise in Comic Studies and ability to teach the history and aesthetics of comics and comic making at the graduate level For course descriptions, please refer to the University Calendar. As per the Collective Agreement, the Faculty of Arts adheres to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments. Names and contact information for 3 potential references; and Teaching evaluations (if available) Doctoral students must have successfully completed their candidacy exams prior to the beginning of the term in question for their applications to be given consideration. They should also have discussed their application with their supervisor and include a letter of support from their supervisors with their application. Those who have completed the Instructional Skills Workshop at the Teaching and Learning Centre will also be given special consideration. The sessional instructor will teach a block week course on Advanced Topics in Genre, specifically focusing on The Comics Form. The course will run from January 4 to January 8, 2027, with classes scheduled daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Candidates must hold a PhD in English or a related field and demonstrate successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Additionally, expertise in Comic Studies and the ability to teach the history and aesthetics of comics at the graduate level is required.
