Salary Range: $36.00 per hour YOUR FOCUS Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance and Operations, this is a supervisory position responsible for overseeing all electrical, elevator, and fire protection systems (sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems) work carried out at the University of New Brunswick Fredericton Campus and upon request, St. Thomas University. Assess, plan, assign, coordinate, and supervise electrical, elevator, and fire protection work undertaken by Capital Planning & Operations. Oversee electrical work on the UNBF Campus and, when requested, St. Thomas University campuses to ensure compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code and other applicable codes and standards. Oversee elevator maintenance and service work on the UNBF Campus and, when requested, St. Thomas University campuses to ensure compliance with applicable elevator and CSA code requirements. Oversee fire protection maintenance and service work on the UNBF Campus and, when requested, St. Thomas University campuses to ensure compliance with the National Fire Code of Canada, National Building Code, and NFPA regulations. Exercise authority over minor and major projects within defined financial parameters, in collaboration with Facilities Management trades, project managers and coordinators, and contractors. Ensure adherence to all safety regulations in the shop and on job sites, and maintain the Lockout/Tagout program in accordance with the New Brunswick Occupational Health and Safety Act, Canadian Electrical Code, and WHMIS legislation. Ensure current and adequate shop tools and equipment are available for the productive and efficient completion of tasks, and oversee the inspection, repair, documentation, and inventory of tools and equipment. Prepare, review, and approve estimates for materials, labour, and requisitions required for projects and work orders. Develop training requirements for tradespersons and apprentices and administer approved training programs within the shop. Provide emergency services to the University as required, either directly or through authorized personnel or contractors. Complete administrative duties, including authorizing time slips, ordering materials, initiating work orders, recommending and monitoring leaves, investigating accidents, completing accident reports, and attending scheduled Operations and Maintenance Manager meetings. Perform other related duties as required. What You Bring Must possess a valid current Journeyman Certificate to practice the Electrical Trade in the Province of New Brunswick. Essential 5 years experience at the Journeyman level as a supervisor. Experience with high voltage electrical systems, fire alarm systems and data systems. Additional Strengths Must be eligible to possess a Provincial Electrical Contractor's Group 3 license on behalf of the Department of Facilities Management as issued by Technical Inspection Services of the Province of New Brunswick. A demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the work of skilled and unskilled workers and Contractors in the projects concerned. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Proficient in electronic data management systems including spreadsheet applications and e-mail communication. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management work order systems.

The General Foreperson is responsible for supervising electrical, elevator, and fire protection systems maintenance and projects across the university campus. They ensure all work complies with safety regulations and building codes while managing shop resources, staff training, and administrative duties.

Candidates must possess a valid Journeyman Certificate to practice the Electrical Trade in New Brunswick and have at least 5 years of supervisory experience at the journeyman level. Proficiency in high voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and electronic data management is essential.
