Sessional Lecturer, MPAS Program The College of Medicine, Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) Program invites applications for a Sessional Lecturer to teach the following course during the 2026-2027 academic year: Course Number, Section, and Name: Research and Evidence Based Medicine Term and Course Dates: 2026-27 academic year CRN: 91631 Delivery Mode: This course will be offered as a Lecture Course Schedule: Thursday 8:30 am to 11:50 am Expected Enrollment Limit: 40 Qualifications: A Ph.D., or equivalent in Educational Administration, Health Professions Education, or a related field is required. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in teaching and supervising research at the post-secondary level, with a strong record of scholarly activity in education or health professions research. Course Information: This course is delivered longitudinally across both years of the MPAS program, with concurrent teaching responsibilities for Year 1 and Year 2 learners. This course introduces learners to the principles of evidence-based medicine for clinical decision-making – including formulating focused research questions, searching for and evaluating evidence, and integrating evidence with patient values and preferences. The course will focus on applying ethical research practices in quality improvement/quality assurance in clinical medicine as well as on action research as a means of reflective practice for professional growth. We will critically appraise various qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, literature review approaches, and knowledge mobilization strategies. This course runs longitudinally over the entire MPAS program and will culminate in a capstone project that leverages a research question to guide literature review, research method, data collection and analysis, and communication of findings. Learners will also present their capstone projects to fellow scholars and colleagues. The Sessional Lecturer will teach the Research and Evidence Based Medicine course to MPAS students, covering clinical decision-making and research methodologies. Responsibilities include supervising capstone projects and guiding students through literature reviews, data collection, and analysis.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Educational Administration, Health Professions Education, or a related field. A strong record of scholarly activity and demonstrated experience in teaching and supervising research at the post-secondary level are required.
