Job summary

Duration: 12+ Months Job Description: Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior QA / Software Testing Specialist with extensive experience in quality assurance, system testing, performance testing, automation, database testing, and security/privacy. The successful candidate will have a strong background testing web applications, web services, databases, and healthcare applications, with experience supporting Provincial Health Care and Electronic Health Records (EHR) applications in a Canadian context. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of QA methodologies, test automation, SQL, performance testing, UAT, defect management, database upgrades, and security relating to data confidentiality and client privacy. Key Responsibilities Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts. Perform functional, performance, connectivity, regression, integration, system, and automation testing. Apply QA best practices, testing methodologies, standards, and processes throughout the software development lifecycle. Conduct performance testing for web applications and web services using JMeter or similar open-source tools. Perform automated testing using tools such as SOAPUI or similar automation/testing products. Conduct advanced SQL testing and database validation within QA environments. Validate data integrity, database functionality, application interfaces, and system integrations. Support database upgrades and perform database comparison and validation using tools such as SQL Data Examiner or similar products. Participate in application and database security testing with particular focus on data confidentiality and client privacy. Review application design and development from a security, privacy, and data protection perspective. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by working closely with Business Owners and stakeholders. Prepare and execute UAT test cases/scripts and document test results. Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution. Work with development, business, and technical teams to investigate and resolve defects. Use HP Quality Center, HP WebInspect, or similar QA/testing tools for test management and security testing. Work effectively within Waterfall, Water-Scrum, Agile, or hybrid project methodologies. Contribute to continuous improvement of QA frameworks, testing processes, standards, and documentation. Ensure testing activities meet applicable healthcare, privacy, confidentiality, and data security requirements. Provide clear written and verbal communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Mandatory Qualifications University degree in Computer Science, Health Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. 10+ years of demonstrated testing experience, including: Functional testing Performance testing Connectivity testing Regression testing Integration testing Automation testing 10+ years of experience applying QA and system testing best practices, methodologies, and frameworks. 8+ years of experience in security relating to data confidentiality and client privacy, particularly within databases and application design/development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to start work within 2 weeks of the required start date. Candidate must declare their remote work location (city and province). Desired / Rated Qualifications 8+ years of experience with open-source performance testing tools for web applications and web services, particularly JMeter. 8+ years of advanced SQL experience in a QA/testing environment. 8+ years of experience with QA frameworks and project methodologies including Waterfall, Water-Scrum, Agile, or similar approaches. 8+ years of experience supporting UAT, including: Working with Business Owners Test case/script execution Defect reporting Defect resolution tracking Test result documentation 8+ years of experience with HP Quality Center and HP WebInspect, or equivalent tools. 4+ years of experience with automation testing tools such as SOAPUI or similar. 4+ years of experience supporting database upgrades and using database comparison tools such as SQL Data Examiner or equivalent. 4+ years of experience working with Provincial Health Care and Electronic Health Records (EHR) applications in a Canadian context.
