THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting functions for multiple entities within the organization. This role is responsible for month-end and quarter-end close, financial reporting and analysis, account reconciliations, audit and year-end support, tax-related schedules, and day-to-day accounting activities. The Accountant will work closely with the Operations team and other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, comfortable working in a multi-entity environment, and able to independently manage recurring deadlines and accounting issues. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Month-End & Quarter-End Close Manage month-end and quarter-end closing activities for multiple entities. Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and other period-end adjustments. Perform balance sheet and income statement reconciliations. Review financial results for completeness and accuracy. Investigate and resolve unusual balances, variances, and reconciling items. Prepare supporting schedules and working papers for period-end reporting. Review financial statements, identify and resolve questions with the foreign entity, and clearly present findings and questions during monthly virtual meetings in English. Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare recurring financial and management reports. Perform P&L and balance sheet variance analysis. Monitor and reconcile key balance sheet accounts. Prepare intercompany reconciliation and settlement schedules. Support management with financial analysis and reporting as required. Inventory, Costing & Tax-Related Accounting Perform inventory and COGS reconciliations between accounting and inventory systems. Investigate inventory and costing variances and prepare necessary adjustments. Prepare excise tax calculations and related reconciliations. Maintain supporting schedules for indirect taxes, including GST/HST and PST. Assist with corporate tax-related schedules and supporting documentation. Year-End & External Audit Assist with year-end close and preparation of year-end working papers and T2. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation requested by external auditors. Respond to audit inquiries and follow up on outstanding audit items. Coordinate with internal departments to obtain supporting information. Assist with corporate tax filings and other year-end reporting requirements. Team & Operational Support Assist with day-to-day accounting questions and transaction reviews. Work with Internal Audit, Operations, Sales, Logistics, and other departments to resolve accounting issues. Support process improvements and strengthen accounting controls and procedures. Assist with special projects and other accounting-related tasks as assigned. WHAT YOU BRING Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. Full-cycle accounting experience. Strong knowledge of month-end and year-end close processes. Solid understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial reporting. Experience supporting external audits and preparing working papers. Experience with GST/HST, PST, Excise tax, and Corporate tax-related accounting Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with Xero and CaseWare and Taxprep is preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
