Job details

About the role VC Lawyers (Vaturi & Cho LLP) is hiring a full-time Bilingual Legal Administrative Assistant for the personal injury team at our North York office. A large share of our injury clients speak Korean, and you will be the person they talk to. You call them and you answer when they call. You explain what is happening on their file and what they need to do next. Then you tell the lawyers and clerks, in English, what the client said. This is an entry-level role, and it is about language before paperwork. You do not need to have worked in a law firm, or in an office at all. We will teach you the accident benefits process and how our files run. What you'll do Speak with Korean-speaking clients by phone, text and email, and keep them informed about their file Explain appointments and next steps in Korean: the date, time and place, what to bring, and what to do if they cannot attend Write down what a client tells you and put it on the file in clear English, so a lawyer or clerk can act on it without calling the client again Collect documents and information from clients, and follow up until they arrive Call clinics, pharmacies and insurers in English to follow up on records and appointments Answer new enquiries from Korean-speaking callers and follow the firm's intake steps Record every call and message on the file, and keep the calendar accurate What we're looking for Fluent spoken Korean, and written Korean good enough to text and email clients Fluent spoken English, and written English good enough for clear file notes and short emails A calm, patient manner with clients who are often injured, stressed and unfamiliar with the legal process Care with details: names, dates, phone numbers and exactly what was said Comfort with email and basic office software such as Microsoft Word and Outlook Discretion. What you hear about a client stays in the office Able to work on site at our North York office, Monday to Friday Experience with customers or clients, office experience, or experience in a law firm, a clinic or an insurance office is a plus but not required. Pay: $17.95 to $20.00 per hour Vaturi & Cho LLP is an equal opportunity employer. Accommodations are available on request at every stage of the recruitment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code. This posting is for an existing vacancy. Artificial intelligence is used in one part of this application: the English interview. A language model plays the other person in the conversation and writes a report on the English used. A person at the firm reviews every application and makes every decision. To apply, complete the application form on our careers page. It takes about twenty minutes and ends with a spoken interview in English of about eight minutes, which is recorded, so you will need a microphone and a quiet place: https://www.vclawyers.ca/about-us/careers/bilingual-legal-administrative-assistant
