About
PhD-trained nutritional physiologist with several years of postdoctoral research experience investigating lipid metabolism, tissue remodelling, inflammation, and responses to nutritional and physiological stress. Combines lipidomics, transcriptomics, pathway analysis, and multi-omics integration to identify mechanisms and predictive biomarkers in human samples and animal models. Experienced in experimental design, molecular validation, quantitative analysis, and collaborative research, with a strong interest in applying this background to adipose biology, metabolic inflammation, and weight-regain research.

Principal Investigators: Dr. Matthew Rise, Dr. Christopher Parrish • Ocean Frontier Institute, leading nutrition-focused research programs investigating the effects of dietary microbial oil rich in DHA, as a full replacement of fish oil, on changes in lipid species, inflammatory markers and lipid metabolism genes • Investigating the effects of aquaculture-derived waste products as alternative feed sources on immune response, intestinal microbiota composition (16S sequencing), and tissue fatty acid profile • Investigating Atlantic salmon antiviral immune response (RNA-seq) • Collaborated with Mara Renewables, different aquaculture research leaders
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, University of Toronto
Nov 2023 to Apr 2025
Canada
• Conducted unbiased lipidomics to define predictive markers in small extracellular vesicles for hypertensive disorders, connecting different pathological conditions. • Designed and executed clinical diet studies using preeclamptic mice models/ offspring from preeclamptic dams. • Applied advanced biomarker identification techniques including LASSO regression and multivariate statistics.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ocean Sciences Centre
Apr 2022 to Nov 2023
Canada
Principal Investigators: Dr. Matthew Rise, Dr. Christopher Parrish, Dr. Kelly Hawboldt • Led research on sustainable aquaculture through evaluation of algae and fishery residues as novel aquaculture feed ingredients, supporting circular economy and sustainability • Collaborated with local industry producers
Main investigator
Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ocean Sciences Centre
Apr 2020 to Apr 2022
Canada
Principal Investigators: Dr. Matthew Rise, Dr. Christopher Parrish • Established gill health research through Mitacs Accelerate program in collaboration with industry partners, identifying novel gill damage markers directly linked to environmental stressors, testing clinical diets to mitigate gill damage • Collaborated with Cargill, different aquaculture research leaders
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ocean Sciences Centre
Mar 2018 to Apr 2020
Canada
Principal Investigators: Dr. Matthew Rise, Dr. Christopher Parrish. Integrated Pathogen Management of Co-infection research project (Genome Canada). • Led Investigating innate antiviral-like responses among divergent Atlantic salmon strains (Ocean Frontier Institute) • Collaborated with Dr. Ian Fleming on comparative immunology studies, investigating the genetic impacts of escaped farmed Atlantic Salmon on wild populations both locally (i.e., Newfoundland) and across the North Atlantic. • Conducted research in Ocean Frontier Institute and Integrated Pathogen Management of Co-infection projects to investigate the effects of sustainable feed ingredients on salmon health. Also, I investigated novel nutritional strategy to mitigate the inflammatory responses due to bacterin challenge. I also led research on the replacement of fish oil with plant-based oils on the lipid profile and lipid metabolism in different tissues, including brain, liver and muscle. • Developing clinical diets against co-infection and infestation.
