About

The Village of Fraser Lake is proudly situated on the southwest shore of Nadleh Bun; known in English as Fraser Lake, within the traditional territories of the Nadleh Whut’en and Stellat’en First Nations. Rooted in a rich cultural landscape and surrounded by natural beauty, Fraser Lake serves not only its residents but also as a vital service centre for neighbouring communities, including Endako, Fort Fraser, and the rural areas of the North Shore and eastern François Lake. Fraser Lake is widely recognized for its strong sense of community and welcoming spirit. Set against a backdrop of breathtaking scenery in every season, the Village offers an exceptional quality of life where residents value connection, resilience, and shared pride. Whether lifelong residents or newcomers, people here contribute to a community that truly embodies the meaning of belonging. The region is a haven for outdoor recreation, with more than 170 lakes within a 100-kilometre radius offering some of Northern British Columbia’s most sought-after fishing opportunities. Year-round recreation is supported by an extensive network of trails, including those on Mouse Mountain, as well as the amenities of White Swan Park, which provides a beautiful setting for activities such as hiking, skating, paddling, and swimming. Like many resource-based communities, Fraser Lake has experienced significant economic and demographic changes. The closure of the Endako Mine in 2015, followed by the West Fraser and Canfor Plateau sawmills in 2024, has driven considerable shifts in population and employment. These changes have brought both challenges and new opportunities, as some residents have moved on while others have chosen Fraser Lake as the place to build their future.
