Sous l’autorité de son officier, le pompier aura à assurer des quarts de garde en caserne, à répondre aux appels d’urgence, à effectuer des visites de prévention résidentielles et des activités d’éducation du public, à participer aux formations et au maintien de compétences en fonction des directives internes du Service de sécurité incendie et à effectuer différentes tâches d’entretien des casernes, des véhicules et des équipements utilisés en cas d’incendie et au cours de diverses interventions d’urgence. Lorsqu’il occupera la fonction de pompier éligible, il sera sous la supervision du chef en devoir et devra planifier, organiser, diriger et contrôler les différentes activités relatives à la gestion des activités de caserne, de formation et d’entraînement, de prévention ainsi que l’exécution des tâches tactiques lors d’intervention d’urgence.
