Job summary
Vision Talent is supporting a leading client in the utilities sector. They are seeking an 'Senior Architect – Grid Technologies' to provide architectural leadership, governance, and strategic direction across critical Operational Technology (OT) and Grid Technology platforms. This role involves overseeing the work of a team of Solution Architects while establishing technical direction, governance standards, and long-term technology roadmaps. The successful candidate will operate at both a strategic and technical level, helping shape the future evolution of OT platforms, field operations systems, and enterprise integrations. While utility experience is beneficial, candidates from manufacturing, oil & gas, industrial automation, and other OT-heavy environments are strongly encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of Solution Architects Provide architectural leadership across systems including: SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) GIS (Geographic Information Systems) ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management Systems) EMS (Energy Management Systems) DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems) AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Provide technical coaching, career development, and architectural guidance Foster collaboration and consistency across architecture initiatives Operate effectively within a unionized environment Support team development while establishing accountability and architectural excellence Influence and guide senior technical professionals through complex technology decisions Review and approve solution and domain-level architecture designs Establish and evolve architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices Participate in Architecture Review Boards (ARB) Ensure alignment between project delivery and enterprise architecture strategy Drive continuous improvement of architecture governance processes Promote reusable architecture patterns and technology standards Define and maintain long-term architecture roadmaps for OT and Grid Technology platforms Shape the future direction of grid operations, field technologies, and related systems Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends Provide strategic recommendations to business and technology leaders Balance operational requirements with long-term modernization initiatives Support grid modernization and digital transformation efforts Required Experience Experience leading architecture initiatives within OT environments Strong knowledge of SCADA systems and their integration with enterprise platforms Experience supporting field operations, dispatch, or work management processes Experience reviewing and governing solution architecture Ability to mentor, coach, and lead technical professionals Strong stakeholder management and communication skills GIS experience ADMS, EMS, DERMS, or AMI experience Utility, grid operations, or ISO experience Experience working within unionized environments ITIL or related governance frameworks This is a contract opportunity - the initial term is 12 months with a possible extension.
