Job summary
The Restaurant Host is responsible for creating a welcoming and memorable first impression for every guest. As the first point of contact, the Host greets and seats guests, manages reservations and waitlists, answers incoming calls, processes takeout and online orders, and supports the front of house team to ensure smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, detail oriented, and thrives in a fast paced environment while delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities Welcome and greet all guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner. Manage reservations using the restaurant’s reservation system and accommodate walk-in guests whenever possible. Maintain an organized waitlist and communicate accurate wait times to guests. Escort guests to their tables, provide menus, and ensure they are comfortably seated. Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally, assisting guests with reservations, menu inquiries, and general questions. Take dine in reservations, takeout orders, and special requests accurately. Process takeout orders received by phone and in person, ensuring all orders are entered correctly into the POS system. Monitor and coordinate online ordering platforms (Uber Eats, DoorDash, SkipTheDishes, and other delivery partners). Verify that all takeout and online orders are complete, accurate, properly packaged, and include all requested items, condiments, utensils, and beverages before they leave the restaurant. Coordinate with the kitchen and front-of-house team to ensure takeout and delivery orders are prepared and ready on time. Process payments for takeout orders and provide courteous service to guests and delivery drivers during pickup. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entrance, waiting area, and takeout pickup station. Monitor table availability and communicate effectively with servers and management to maximize seating efficiency and maintain balanced server sections. Respond professionally to guest concerns or complaints and notify management when necessary. Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return. Assist the front of house team with additional operational duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous restaurant or customer service experience is considered an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, positive, and professional attitude. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast paced environment. Basic computer and POS system knowledge. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
