Team members contribute directly to improving the quality of life for individuals and families across the Miramichi region. Role Description The Family Support Worker is a full-time, on-site role located in Miramichi, NB. This position provides direct support to families through home visits, one-on-one guidance, and group activities that promote healthy relationships, parenting skills, and children’s development. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing family needs, developing service plans, coordinating referrals to community resources, and maintaining accurate case records. The role also involves collaborating with social service agencies, schools, and healthcare providers, advocating for families, and ensuring follow-up on services. The Family Support Worker will participate in team meetings, contribute to program planning, and support outreach initiatives that strengthen community connections. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Social Work and Family Services, with experience supporting families facing social or economic challenges. Competence in Case Management, including assessing needs, developing plans, coordinating services, and maintaining documentation. Experience Working With Children in diverse family settings, with an understanding of child development and safety practices. Strong Communication skills, including active listening, clear verbal and written communication, and the ability to build trust with families and partners. Post-secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of community resources and social service systems in New Brunswick or willingness to learn quickly. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel, as required for home visits and community outreach.
