Job title: Product Owner Comp: CAD $150K-$180K base + Bonus + Equity Location: Remote Canada Industry: Fintech / Capital Markets I’m working with a growing financial technology business that is looking to hire an experienced Product Owner to support the continued development of its core platform. This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who is strong at turning business needs into clear product requirements, working closely with engineering teams, and owning initiatives through to completion. The successful person will sit between Product, Engineering and business stakeholders, helping translate priorities into executable development work while maintaining strong ownership of the backlog and delivery process. What the role looks like: Owning product initiatives from requirements through development, testing, and release Breaking down broader objectives into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria Managing and prioritizing the product backlog in Jira Running backlog refinement and planning sessions with engineering Working closely with developers to resolve blockers and keep delivery on track Managing multiple concurrent initiatives and competing priorities Coordinating dependencies across different teams and workstreams Validating completed functionality against requirements Communicating progress, risks, and delivery priorities to stakeholders Supporting user-facing workflow improvements across a complex financial technology platform Working independently with a high degree of ownership and accountability What they’re looking for: Strong experience as a Product Owner or in a closely related Product Management role Proven experience owning software initiatives from requirements through delivery Hands-on experience managing product backlogs Strong Jira experience Experience writing user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria Experience working closely with software engineering teams Background in financial services, fintech, trading technology, or another complex software environment Strong understanding of Agile and the software development lifecycle Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to work autonomously and drive initiatives through to completion Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Useful experience: Capital markets or trading technology User-facing workflow products SaaS or software vendor environments Products serving multiple customers or stakeholder groups Agile, Scrum, or Kanban Jira and Confluence Rapid prototyping or MVP delivery Experience balancing business priorities with engineering capacity Why it’s interesting: This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys the execution side of Product Ownership and wants genuine responsibility for getting complex initiatives delivered.
