Job summary

Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Manage full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll Reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy across all financial records Develop financial reports specific to construction projects, including job costing and profitability tracking Support leadership with financial insights and forecasting Construction Project Accounting Oversee job costing, ensuring all project expenses are tracked and allocated correctly Monitor project budgets, identify variances, and report on cost overruns Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting Review purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and change orders for financial accuracy Assist with progress billing, holdbacks, and lien requirements Cash Flow & Budgeting Monitor company cash flow, with a focus on project-based revenue and expenses Manage working capital across multiple concurrent construction projects Develop and maintain budgets for both operations and individual jobs Track receivables, ensuring timely collections and managing client invoicing schedules Compliance & Controls Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and construction industry requirements Manage HST filings, payroll remittances, and other statutory obligations Coordinate external audits, financial reviews, and insurance reporting Establish and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets Team Leadership & Collaboration Supervise and support accounting staff or administrative team members handling financial tasks Collaborate with operations, project managers, and leadership to align financial and project goals Provide guidance on financial processes, documentation, and best practices Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction or project-based industries Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and construction financial practices Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, and construction-specific systems) Advanced Excel skills for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Excellent communication and collaboration skills
