Job details

About You Hungry. You're driven to grow, innovate and build things that scale: systems, standards and teams that work as the company grows. Smart. You think like an owner. You're comfortable with drawings, crews and clients, carrying a P&L, making the bid/no-bid call and protecting margin, and you're happy to roll up your sleeves. You're a builder. You've led self-perform or trade operations and understand the realities of crews, equipment and job sites, not just the spreadsheets. About The Role As General Manager, you'll run Compass Point end to end: profit and loss, projects, people, safety and culture. You'll report to Director of Field Operations and have full autonomy over day-to-day operations, safety, quality and projects. As the business grows, so does your authority. You'll start with a small team and build it: a PM/Estimator, a Project Coordinator, a General Superintendent, Superintendents and a field crew of 20-40 (carpenters, equipment operators, pipe layers and labourers). A DAY IN THE LIFE Run the business: own the P&L, margins, forecasting and backlog. Win the right work: make the bid/no-bid call, negotiate contracts and nurture client relationships. Deliver: guide projects from estimate to close-out with strong controls and reporting. Lead the field: keep safety, quality and productivity high, and put the right labour and equipment on each job. Build the team: hire, mentor and gradually replace client's shared services with your own departments. Grow: expand into Vancouver Island and beyond and set the operating standards and culture as you go. What You Bring 10+ years in commercial construction (GC or subcontractor), with hands-on experience in demolition, concrete and civil scopes. Proven P&L ownership and strong financial literacy. A solid grasp of estimating and project management fundamentals, and confidence reading drawings and specifications. Comfort with ERP, CRM and project software (we use CMiC, Procore and Bluebeam, and you can learn on the job). Experience in the Vancouver construction market. A trade ticket and/or business education (BCIT, MBA) is a strong asset, and equivalent experience counts too. OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU KPI-based bonus.. 3% RRSP matching. 4 weeks' vacation. Health and benefits package starting after 3 months. Vehicle and phone allowances, plus professional development support. Real autonomy, flexibility and work-life balance, with a results-based approach. Room to grow with new regions, bigger projects and a path into other client business units. Benefits Dental care Extended health care Paid time off RRSP match Work Location: In person
