Capital Movers & Storage is looking for motivated individuals to join our team. Position: MOVER/LABOUR - Kingston Starting wage: $19.05/hour paid bi-weekly via direct deposit Vacancy - 5 What’s the job? Overview: Assist drivers and work with a team of movers and packers to load/unload, pack/unpack household or office goods during all phases of the move. Regular shifts are Monday through Friday, 7:45 am* start time with the possibility of occasional evening and weekend shifts. Variable hours through week based on job volume. *some shifts will start earlier based on job-specific parameters Key Duties: * Assist with the loading and unloading of household goods shipments, at residences and warehouse * Assist with loading/unloading of appliances and fine furniture for commercial deliveries * Assist with packing/unpacking of breakable items * Maintain a clean and safe work area * Assist with truck/trailer upkeep including folding of moving blankets, breaking down of packing material, washing vehicle and equipment as required Key Skills: * Fast learner: able to take on new tasks and areas of responsibility in a short time frame * Customer service * Capable of safely lifting up to 75 pounds (this is a physically demanding role) * Enjoys physical labour * Attention to detail (this is where you can really shine!) * Good team-player—enjoys working with others to accomplish goals * Dependable and willing to work (your teammates will be counting on you) Qualifications: * Household goods moving/storage/packing experience an asset * Physical fitness—able to work long hours at physically demanding tasks * Bilingualism an asset * Valid G licence an asset Other info that’s important to know: * Three-month probation period (gives you a chance to decide if we’re a fit for you!) * Background check required upon offer of employment, additional security clearances as projects require * Open door policy for communication with supervisors (we want you to succeed) * Opportunities for advancement * In-service training and mentoring, external training and certification opportunities * Kudos program for employee recognition * Long service awards ($) recognized in five-year increments * Opportunities to support Office Installation division (and receive related training) Applicants selected for the position will be required to provide a CPIC (police background check/criminal record check) upon offer of employment. Candidates must be capable of safely lifting up to 75 pounds and possess a strong work ethic. Previous moving or storage experience and a valid G license are considered assets.
