Earth Restoration Services – Branching from a coal mining background in Alberta, the WestMET Earth Restoration Services (ERS) team aims to provide engineering, environmental and regulatory support to mine sites as well as other industrial proponents. Position Summary The HR Generalist would perform HR-related duties, including recruitment, benefits, staff relations, HR policies, WCB claims/return to work programs, disability claims and more. This is an on-location role at our Halkirk facility with weekly travel to our Ryley facility. This role requires strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate would have a strong understanding of HR best practices, communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Supervisor Responsibilities This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities over other employees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks. · Prepare new hire documents and ensure new employees have fully complete the onboarding and training processes. · Maintain accurate employee records throughout the organization. · Support staff and managers in interpreting policies, creating employment agreements and implementing onboarding, terminations, learning and development programs, performance management, rewards and recognition, internal communications, compensation, and more. · Assist in all aspects of staff relations and provide resolutions as needed, including performance improvement, handling staff complaints, conducting investigations, managing disciplinary actions, and overseeing terminations. · Facilitate WCB claims submissions and manage returns to work. · Coordinate employee benefits changes, and inquiries. · Provide dedicated and effective advisory services to all staff, covering areas such as absence management, performance issues, health concerns, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational changes, and other staff-related matters. · Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures. · Contribute to HR projects and initiatives as assigned. · Maintain staff confidence and protect operations by keeping human resource information confidential. · Ensure knowledge of and stay updated on changes in Employment Standards and Canadian employment law. Education and Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in HR with knowledge of recruitment, benefits, performance management and WCB claims/return to work. Strong knowledge of labour standards regulations and human rights legislation Familiarity of HR software (Dayforce) MS Office/Excel skills CHRP designation an asset Union and non-union experience Skills/Competencies Excellent communication skills Problem solving skills Ability to multitask and prioritize Approachable, professional and trustworthy
