Job summary
The Mill Manager position will lead the Grande Prairie Sawmill located in Grande Prairie, AB. As part of Weyerhaeuser Wood Products, this role reports to the Lumber Manufacturing Director. The Mill Manager is responsible for safety, the reliable manufacturing and on-time and in-full delivery of products to customers and ensures that business objectives are met for the site. Other responsibilities include fostering an innovative and engaged culture, leading in a high-performance work system, controlling product cost and inventory, and developing future leaders. This is a non-union facility with approximately 200 employees. Key Functions Engages team members in safely manufacturing lumber that meets customer needs and driving improvement in key business metrics Ensures an injury free culture is created by committed leaders and involved associates, backed by strong safety systems Coaches and leads in the overall manufacturing process. Reliability, financial, procurement, productivity, environmental and other site stewardship responsibilities are the ultimate responsibility of the Mill Manager Ensures that business and individual goal setting processes such as capital plans, expense budgets, safety strategic plans and performance management plans are developed and executed with excellence Required Skills and Experience Minimum 8 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with proven record of positive accomplishments in safety, quality, productivity, cost and people development Outstanding teaming and interpersonal skills that: - effectively engage teams to meet business goals - ensure successful teaming/networking within Wood Products and the company as needed Strong interest and ability to engage and lead others in a high performance, team based organization Strong business and financial acumen Proven record to effectively engage associates in behavior-based safety techniques Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills Strong planning and organizational skills Able to work flexible hours as needed in a mill environment Desired Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in business, technical (engineering or other) or forestry/wood products discipline OR equivalent experience Experience developing and working in high performance work systems Experience working in a unionized environment Working knowledge of Lean and Innovation tools and processes Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $151,767- $224,856 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 20%25 of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target. This position is also eligible to receive $29,200 in restrictive stock units on an annual basis, as part of our Long Term Incentive Plan. Requirements
Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with a proven record in safety, quality, and cost management. A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or forestry is preferred, along with strong interpersonal and financial skills.
