Role at a Glance The Civil Project Engineer is responsible for planning and conducting assignments with a high level of specialization and autonomy. This role involves solving complex engineering problems, modifying established guidelines, and applying mature engineering knowledge to improve design standards, reduce costs, and enhance work quality. The position requires effective collaboration with colleagues, clients, and external agencies. What you will do Plan and conduct complex engineering assignments with minimal supervision. Modify established guidelines and devise new approaches to meet project requirements. Apply existing criteria in new ways and draw conclusions from comparative situations. Develop and recommend improvements in design standards to lower costs or enhance work quality. Providing technical guidance on projects involving sewer systems, water management, earthworks, and road infrastructure. Investigate and solve unusual design and field engineering problems by devising new approaches or applying existing criteria in innovative ways. Initiate and develop guidelines and investigations for other team members. Coordinate difficult and responsible tasks, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and effectively. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and external agencies. Discuss design problems, explain design features and specifications, and outline project control criteria. Establish and maintain client contacts to seek or provide technical information related to projects. Communicate effectively with clients to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions. Manage mid-sized to large projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and performance objectives. Prepare progress reports, recommend design changes, estimate costs, and recommend payments for completed work. What you bring to the table Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field). Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or equivalent certification required. Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably within a consulting environment. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and best practices. Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems using innovative approaches. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external agencies. Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools. Project management experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage mid-sized to large projects.
