Role Description The Lead Carpenter is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Winnipeg Metropolitan Area, responsible for overseeing carpentry work on residential construction and renovation projects. This role includes planning and executing framing, structural work, and finish carpentry, as well as reading and interpreting blueprints and construction plans. The Lead Carpenter will coordinate daily tasks for carpentry crew members, ensure safe and efficient use of hand tools and power tools, and monitor jobsite safety and quality standards. Day-to-day responsibilities also involve problem-solving on site, communicating with supervisors and other trades, tracking materials and supplies, and ensuring that all work meets building codes and company quality expectations. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in Carpentry and Framing, including residential structural work. Strong proficiency with Hand Tools and Power Tools, with a focus on safe and efficient operation. Skilled in Finish Carpentry, including installation of trim, doors, cabinetry, and other detailed woodwork. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building specifications. Proven experience leading or supervising carpentry crews on residential projects. Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and best practices in construction. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate work with other trades. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and reliable time management. Physical ability to perform on-site construction tasks, including lifting, standing, and working in varying weather conditions. Several years of relevant carpentry experience; trade certification or apprenticeship completion is an asset.
