Job summary
Senior Property Accountant $85K–$95K + Bonus & Benefits Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite) Our client, an established property management company, is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join their accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced property accounting professional to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of commercial, retail, and industrial properties. The team is open to both strong mid-level Property Accountants ready to take on greater responsibility and experienced Senior Property Accountants who can bring a strong depth of commercial property accounting knowledge to the team. Key Responsibilities Complete monthly accounting and financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties. Prepare cost accruals, amortizations, depreciation, and variance analysis. Review property revenues and provide commentary on variances against forecasts and prior-year results. Complete mortgage and loan reconciliations. Prepare and remit monthly HST. Prepare and process tenant CAM/TAX recovery reconciliations and billings. Review tenant leases and validate recovery rules and charges. Prepare annual property budgets. Prepare year-end working papers and supporting documentation for external accountants. Review tenant accounts receivable and work closely with Property Managers on collections, bad debt allowances, write-offs, and adjustments. Set up lease commissions and other unique charges within Yardi. Review and support accounts payable processing for assigned properties. Prepare annual MPAC financial reporting requirements. Liaise with Property Managers and provide accounting and financial information as required. Qualifications 3+ years of relevant property accounting experience. Experience within commercial real estate or property management is strongly preferred. Experience with commercial, retail, and/or industrial properties. Strong knowledge of CAM/TAX recoveries, triple-net leases, and tenant billings. Full-cycle property accounting experience, including financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and year-end. Yardi experience CPA designation is not required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to independently manage an assigned portfolio while collaborating with accounting and property management teams. Strong organizational and communication skills.
