POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, the incumbent is responsible for practicing as a member of the Home Hemodialysis Nursing team, utilizing nursing process in the assessment, care and teaching of Home Hemodialysis patient at SOGH, a community facility or in the patient home. EXPERIENCE * Minimum three (3) years in Nephrology Nursing required. * Evidence of clinical expertise in Hemodialysis required. * Previous teaching experience an asset. EDUCATION (DEGREE/DIPLOMA/CERTIFICATE) * Baccalaureate of Nursing preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. * Manitoba Nephrology Nursing course required (MNNC). * Successful completion of the Canadian Nurses Association Nephrology certification is preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION * Current C.R.N.M. registration required. * CNA Certification in Nephrology Nursing preferred. * Valid Manitoba driver's licensce required. * Incumbent must hold a valid Manitoba driver's license , provide own transportation and be free to travel throughout Manitoba. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS * Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). * Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills. * Demonstrated clinical expertise. * Ability to adapt readily to changing demands and situations. * Demonstrated effective teaching skills. * Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * May be required to occasionally work extended hours including evenings and weekends. * Will be required to go into patient homes for teaching and assessments. Requirements
Candidates must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program with a minimum of three years of nephrology nursing experience, including peritoneal and home hemodialysis. Current C.R.N.M. registration and a Certified Nephrology Nurse certificate are required.
