Job details

Product Designer — Vans & Campers Wonder Overland | Squamish, BC | On-site only Employment: Full-time, hourly Schedule: 32 hours per week, four eight-hour days Pay: $30–$35 CAD per hour, depending on skills and experience About the role At Wonder Overland, we design and build custom camper vans, truck campers and overland products in Squamish, BC. We're looking for a practical, creative Product Designer to help develop our van and camper layouts, cabinetry and components. You'll balance good design with the realities of manufacturing, installation and everyday use. Our projects bring together furniture, appliances, plumbing and electrical systems within compact spaces. You'll work closely with our manufacturing team to develop designs that look good, function well and can be built efficiently. You'll receive an initial handover with our current designer before taking responsibility for day-to-day design work, with ongoing collaboration and feedback from the team. What you'll do • Create accurate parametric 3D models from concepts, sketches and design briefs. • Design cabinetry, furniture, interior layouts and custom components for vans and campers. • Integrate appliances, plumbing and electrical equipment with the team, accounting for ventilation, connections and service access. • Resolve materials, joinery, hardware, fit and moving clearances for CNC manufacturing and assembly. • Prepare clear manufacturing drawings and production files, incorporating feedback from prototyping and the shop. • Collaborate with clients and the manufacturing team to clarify requirements, communicate ideas and solve design challenges. • Manage tasks and deadlines across multiple projects, keeping models, drawings and revisions organised. What we're looking for • Strong creative problem-solving, spatial thinking and an understanding of how things are built. • Experience with parametric 3D modelling in Fusion or similar CAD software. Fusion experience is preferred. • An understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and practical assembly. • Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working with the manufacturing team. • Attention to detail, accurate dimensions and good organisational skills. • Resourcefulness when working through design challenges and testing alternative solutions. • A flexible, hands-on approach to working within a small team. Experience with CNC manufacturing, plywood cabinetry, furniture making, joinery or sheet metal fabrication is an asset. We value practical experience, technical ability and a willingness to learn. A specific degree or educational background is not required. What we offer • A four-day work week, with statutory holidays off. • Flexible working hours with advance notice and team coordination. • Opportunities to develop your skills, contribute ideas and take ownership of projects. • Additional unpaid leave by agreement, when business needs allow. • A collaborative workshop environment where you can see your designs become finished products. • Jasper, our shop dog, to keep you company. How to apply Send your CV and portfolio to zach.mesman@wondervans.ca. We'd like to see how you approach design challenges and how your ideas translate into something that can actually be built. Professional work, personal projects, practical experience and relevant education are all welcome. Come help us design and build the next generation of Wonder Overland campers.
