The Role The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer provides instrumentation and control (I&C) engineering services to Worley and its customers. The role supports the delivery of I&C engineering work across projects, contributing to design, technical documentation, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project execution while working under the guidance of more experienced engineers. Responsibilities Execute instrumentation and controls engineering activities for assigned project scopes in accordance with Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. Develop, review, and maintain I&C engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument datasheets, I/O lists, instrument location drawings, cable schedules, and material requisitions. Participate in project meetings, design reviews, progress reporting, and required checking and quality assurance activities. Support the development of instrumentation specifications, calculations, equipment selections, and technical documentation. Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities, including responding to technical queries and reviewing vendor documentation. Coordinate with process, electrical, mechanical, piping, automation, and other disciplines to ensure effective integration of I&C systems. Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and other technical or safety reviews as required. Identify technical issues, discrepancies, and scope changes and support the development and implementation of appropriate solutions. Assist with field verification, site visits, walkdowns, and commissioning activities where required. Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders. Support and contribute to the development of less experienced team members as appropriate. Requirements 2-10 years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience, preferably on multidisciplinary industrial projects. Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline. Working knowledge of instrumentation and control systems and engineering practices. Ability to develop, interpret, and review I&C drawings, designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation. Working knowledge of I&C deliverables, including: P&IDs Loop and wiring diagrams Instrument location drawings Instrument datasheets and specifications I/O lists Cable, conduit, and tray schedules Control narratives Cause and effect diagrams Material requisitions Working knowledge of instrumentation selection and application, including flow, level, temperature, and pressure measurement. Familiarity with engineering systems and workflows such as SAP and KMS, or equivalent. Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team. EIT or P.Eng. registration with APEGA, or eligibility to pursue registration, is required. For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $74,639 to $140,784 Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role. Requirements
Candidates must have 2-10 years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience and an accredited Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Professional registration as an EIT or P.Eng. with APEGA is required or must be pursued.
