Purpose The Senior to Principal Electrical Designer will provide technical expertise and leadership in the development and delivery of electrical design and drafting services for major industrial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and reviewing high-quality electrical design deliverables, coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams and clients, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to other designers. The role will support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from concept and FEED through detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality electrical design and drafting services for major industrial projects, meeting company, client, project, industry, and regulatory requirements. Develop, coordinate, and review HV/LV electrical design deliverables, including single-line diagrams, wiring and control schematics, equipment and electrical room layouts, and installation details. Develop and review cable schedules, cable routing, tray and conduit layouts, duct bank layouts, grounding and bonding, lightning protection, lighting and small power, substation and switchyard layouts, and hazardous area electrical designs. Perform and review electrical design calculations, including cable selection and sizing, cable tray sizing, cable pulling, duct bank, and lighting calculations using applicable design software. Coordinate electrical design with process, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, automation, and other disciplines to ensure integrated project designs, and participate in 3D model reviews. Provide technical direction and oversight to electrical designers and drafting teams, including work coordination, design reviews, quality assurance, and mentorship. Participate in client and internal design reviews, providing technical input on design, drafting, constructability, maintainability, operability, and compliance requirements. Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up, including equipment requisitions, technical bid evaluations, vendor documentation, and resolution of site and technical queries. Identify and resolve technical issues, scope changes, and discrepancies between client requirements, project specifications, company standards, and applicable codes, while delivering work within schedule and budget requirements. Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with quality assurance, document control, and project procedures, while communicating effectively with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders. Qualifications Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, Drafting, or a related technical discipline. Significant experience in electrical design and drafting, preferably within an EPC, engineering consulting, or industrial project environment. Extensive experience delivering electrical design on major industrial projects, including energy, oil & gas, mining, chemicals, power, or infrastructure. Strong working knowledge of electrical design systems, workflows, standards, project procedures, and document management processes. Demonstrated experience interpreting, developing, coordinating, and reviewing complex electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, and technical documentation. Strong knowledge of HV/LV power distribution, motor control and VFDs, lighting, grounding and bonding, lightning protection, cable systems, and hazardous area electrical design. Proficiency with SPEL, AutoCAD, and MicroStation. Experience with AVEVA 2D/3D, SP3D, PDMS, PDS/EERWAY, or similar 3D design systems is an asset. Experience participating in 3D model reviews. Experience with lighting calculation software such as AGi32 or DIALux is an asset. Strong communication, coordination, technical problem-solving, and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within multidisciplinary project teams. Professional designation or certification such as P.Eng., C.E.T., ASET, APEGA, or equivalent is preferred. Requirements

Requires a degree or diploma in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, electrical design, drafting, or a related technical discipline, along with extensive electrical design experience on major industrial projects. Candidates should have strong knowledge of HV/LV systems and related electrical design practices, proficiency with SPEL, AutoCAD, and MicroStation, and demonstrated coordination, problem-solving, and leadership skills; professional designation or certification is preferred.
