Job details

Xcimer Energy leverages decades of research on Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE) combined with groundbreaking new laser architecture. Our mission is to deploy fusion power plants to meet global decarbonization goals as fast as possible. Xcimer has assembled a team of leaders in tough tech, fusion science, and manufacturing with a track record of rapid execution. Supported by leading investors, Xcimer is uniquely positioned to deliver limitless, clean, fusion power to combat climate change. Join us in powering a better world with inertial fusion! This is a full-time, onsite role based at our headquarters in Denver, CO. As a Data Engineer, you will assist efforts to integrate and maintain critical data systems across engineering, manufacturing, and business operations. You’ll serve as a key technical contributor, participating in a cross-functional team to deliver tools and dashboards which extract useful answers from the data lake and empower daily decision-making at Xcimer. This is a hands-on role with broad impact, ideal for someone passionate about operational excellence and shaping the future of clean energy. \n Responsibilities Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations across CAD/CAE, PLM, ERP, procurement, and other business systems, closing gaps in data availability across the org and turning that data into information that drives business decisions. Implement monitoring, alerting, and error-handling practices so data pipeline failures are caught early and resolved with minimal disruption. Convert defined requirements and user stories from product and business stakeholders into working tools, dashboards, and demos. Discover and streamline existing systems, workflows, and processes through automation and improved data pipelines to increase operational efficiency. Collaborate across domains such as business operations, manufacturing, supply chain, design engineering, experimental physics, computation, and controls to deliver fit-for-purpose tools. Drive clear, well-documented process and tool rollouts, capturing the reasoning behind design decisions, managing change with stakeholders, and building solutions that hold up as business needs and underlying systems evolve. Support data governance efforts by documenting ownership, lineage, and access requirements as new systems and integrations come online. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field Experience: 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering for an aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or other advanced manufacturing/R&D company Proficient in Python and SQL; familiarity with Spark (PySpark/Spark SQL) strongly preferred. Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL pipelines, relational databases and SQL Experience with the Databricks Lakehouse platform (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, workflows) and AWS S3 cloud object storage. Experience building interactive dashboards and visualizations (e.g. Plotly/Dash, Streamlit, or similar) Proven ability to learn new technical domains quickly and translate complex systems into robust tools Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired Startup or early-stage company experience \n $125,000 - $160,000 a year Candidates may be considered for other positions at Xcimer Energy, and our actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
