Reporting to an Investigations Manager, the Private Investigator, Surveillance will be responsible for conducting thorough and detailed covert surveillance investigations both by vehicle and/or on foot. Respond to client requests with a quick, flexible, and operational approach that is based on sound strategy, and coordinated with Xpera’s policies and procedures. Conduct investigations in a manner that makes strategic sense and that are coordinated with the client’s intent, seeking guidance from management as required. Conduct assignments in a proper investigative sequence including pre-operation planning, assignment assessment, evidence collection, and reporting. Monitor closely assignment timelines and budgets to ensure assignments are completed on time and within budget. Produce accurate, detailed notes and reports in accordance with Xpera’s protocol and practices. Obtain professional quality video and photographic documentation of subjects. Obtain information or intelligence in a legal, ethical, and confidential manner as required. Attend court or legal proceedings as required. Maintain vehicle and equipment in good working conditions, suitable for work and functions. What You Will Bring: Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience with preference given to candidates with a minimum of 2 years of field surveillance investigative experience. Experience working in a client-focused environment. Experience in law enforcement is an asset. A valid Private Investigator License within the applicable province of employment. A valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record. Knowledge of all levels of the Canadian court system, criminal and civil code in Canada, insurance law, and privacy legislation is an asset. An understanding of threat risk assessments and analytics. Exceptional communication and written skills. An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. A strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially with Word and Excel. An ability to work under pressure to meet demanding timelines while maintaining focus on the task at hand.
