About the Role: The Coordinator provides operational leadership to the Northside Community Centre YMCA and direct supervision of the Adult Fitness and Child & Youth operations to ensure high quality fitness and Child/Youth programs to participants. They are required to support strategies aimed at improving participant experience and retention through the delivery of excellent individual fitness and child/youth programs with outstanding service quality. The coordinator will collaborate with department supervisor/manager to coach, develop and support assigned operations. This is a full-time permanent role with benefits. Responsibilities: * Support Program Manager and Youth Supervisor with staff management (including recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling) to create engaged, motivated, well-trained teams while role modeling the Y-Way Service Standards to staff and volunteers. * Provide feedback/recognition and on the spot coaching to staff members regularly, including evaluations and working with supervisors for any disciplinary actions when necessary. * Ensure all safety documents within programs are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed, and staff is following head counts and maintaining ratios (Child/Youth). * Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all by following YMCA Health Safety Child Protection and Emergency policies and procedures. Monitor risk and responds to emerging risk issues. * Identify and address facility or equipment maintenance issues and recommend annual equipment replacement and/or program area refurbishment plans. * Collaborate with Program Manager and Youth Supervisor to ensure programs and services evolve with YMCA Canada updates, established trends, participant or community demand or common best practices. * Foster, establish and maintain effective community relationships and partnerships relevant to the programs and services, market and promote programs to achieve program and financial targets, and support coordinated, integrated service delivery. * Knows and reviews all emergency procedures for Adult and Child/Youth standards and best practices; responds to situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures; completes related reports and recommendations as required. Qualifications: * Post-secondary education in a related field is considered a strong asset. * Previous leadership experience considered an asset. * Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR-C. * Able to obtain a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search. * Flexible work schedule - includes mornings, evenings, and weekends. * Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively. Specific to Child/Youth: * Experience working with and leading children's programming. * NCCP, Fundamental Movement Skills and/or Healthy Child Development certifications considered an asset. Specific to Adult: * Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset. * Current group fitness certification (with associated discipline) through a recognized certifying body.
