Position: Health & Wellness Floor Volunteer Location: St. Thomas Elgin YMCA As part of being a volunteer: Receive a complimentary YMCA personal membership to our Health & Fitness facilities Be part of a caring and supportive network of people to help each other succeed Contribute to real, meaningful impact in the lives of children and youth Program Description: To assist and build relationships with Members, YMCA Staff and Volunteers assist Health and Wellness Staff on Duty. Demonstrate knowledge of Wellness Floor, YMCA mission, core values, and act as a positive role model. Help to maintain a positive, friendly and safe environment in Health and Wellness areas. Core Responsibilities: Provide high quality customer service to participants Assist with cleaning duties of the Wellness Floor Ensure Wellness Floor rules are being followed Orient new members on proper use of machines and book wellness appointments Assist instructors with class transitions and set up Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, volunteers and members Maintain excellent communication with Health and Wellness Staff Complete all online trainings, program training and Volunteer WHY School Be an Ambassador for the YMCA Qualifications: Minimum age: we consider volunteers as young as the summer they are entering grade 9 Understanding of physical fitness principles Standard First Aid and CPR‐C preferred Experience working or volunteering in physical fitness preferred Original Criminal Reference Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening less than 6 months old for volunteers 18 years and older Fun, friendly and enthusiastic Excellent customer service skills Hardworking, dependable and a team player Genuinely interested in being a part of the YMCA. Minimum commitment of 4 months, 2 hours/week

Requirements

Candidates must be at least entering grade 9 and provide a current criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening. Standard First Aid, CPR-C, and a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week for 4 months are preferred or required.
