Medical Device Reprocessing Technician - Surgical Services - Casual on Call

Casual On Call - No Guaranteed Hours This position is at the L04 level with an hourly pay range of $32.22 to $40.77 (PSAC Bargaining Unit) Reporting to the Clinical Care Manager Surgical Services, the incumbent decontaminates specialized equipment; packages and processes instruments used in the O.R., all Yukon Hospital sites, and external partners; performs other related duties. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * Knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures for sterilizing hospital equipment and surgical instruments * Knowledge of surgical instruments * Understanding of Universal Precautions * Ability to operate and maintain hospital equipment and machines and handle delicate instruments * Ability to organize work * Ability to set priorities * Good interpersonal skills * Ability to work well with others * Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing * Self motivated and capable of working independently and in a team environment Ability to use computers * Physical ability to perform all functions of the position * Cross cultural awareness The successful candidate is required to have MDR or SPD Technicians certificate (correspondence course) or (2) two years MDR experience in a similar or larger hospital and current CPR certification. The incumbent is responsible for decontaminating specialized equipment and processing instruments used in operating rooms across various hospital sites. Additional duties include packaging instruments and performing related surgical services tasks.

Candidates must possess an MDR or SPD Technician certificate or have two years of experience in a similar hospital setting. Current CPR certification is also required.
