Our recent funding extension has raised our Series B funding round to nearly $50 million USD 🎉 Join us in shaping the future of employee financial wellness and building services that address the immediate needs of today's employees. You might see a few cities listed, but no need to be in any of them! We’re fully remote and hire across Canada and the U.S. About the role: At ZayZoon, we've built a financial empowerment platform that helps businesses of all sizes make a real impact on employee financial wellness. The design system you build and govern here is the foundation that every product experience sits on, which means the decisions you make have a direct line to whether someone successfully accesses their earned wages or walks away confused. As our Staff Designer, you'll own our design system end-to-end: tokens, patterns, documentation, governance, and the engineering partnership that makes sure what ships actually matches what was designed. You'll also mentor other designers and help build the shared language across design, product, and engineering that lets the whole team move faster with less friction. If you care as much about how a system scales as you do about the quality of a single interaction, this is the role you've been looking for. Your impact: You'll evolve our design system end-to-end (components, tokens, patterns, and documentation) in close partnership with engineering so it stays coherent and scales as the product grows. You'll bridge design and implementation directly, writing and reviewing production-ready HTML, CSS, and React to close the gap between what was designed and what actually ships. You'll define quality standards for interaction, accessibility, and visual consistency across the product, then make those standards clear and actionable for every designer on the team. You'll run systematic audits and build tooling that surfaces gaps between design intent and the live product, then see those gaps through to closure. You'll mentor designers with structured, specific feedback that builds the team's ability to frame problems clearly and ship work with real rigor. You'll draw clear, concrete lines between craft decisions and business outcomes (activation, retention, revenue) so design's role in what moves the needle is visible and understood. You bring: 7+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time in growth or experimentation-focused roles: you've worked at the intersection of craft and measurable outcomes long enough to know how design decisions actually move metrics, and you care about both sides of that equation. A track record of shipping experiments that worked: you've designed, iterated on, and shipped work that improved real activation or adoption numbers, and you can talk concretely about what you learned along the way including what didn't work the first time. Hands-on design system experience at scale: you've built and governed a system, not just used one. You understand component architecture, token structure, and what documentation actually needs to say to be useful in practice. Front-end fluency: you can read and write production HTML, CSS, and React, and you're comfortable enough in the browser to close the gap yourself rather than waiting on a handoff. Strong systems thinking: you see how individual design decisions compound into patterns, how those patterns shape behavior, and how both connect back to outcomes the business actually cares about. A collaborative, cross-functional orientation: you build real working relationships with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders, and you help create shared language and processes that reduce friction instead of adding to it. Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of listed criteria, women and other marginalized folks tend to only apply when they check every box. Think you have what it takes, but not sure you check every box? Apply to the role anyways. We’d love to talk and determine together whether you could be a great fit! Why you’ll love working at ZayZoon: Permanently Remote: Work from a desk, a coffee shop, or in the great outdoors - our jobs are fully remote, forever Flexible Time Off: Whether it's a longer vacation to explore new horizons, a series of short breaks for regular rejuvenation, or stepping away for a new level of mastery in a skillset – our “You-do-You” time off program caters to the diverse and evolving lifestyles of our team with a maximum of 6 weeks vacation Instant Benefits: All full-time employees get access to medical, vision, and dental benefits from their very first day including increased mental health coverage and a wellness stipend Plus: Inclusive parental leave top-up, earned wage access, real time market data for salaries, a supportive culture for lifelong learners and more What you can expect from us: Every application will be reviewed by our team - we're committed to giving each application the attention it deserves because we know how important this step is for you. We want to make sure you're always in the loop and will respond to every application. So go ahead and hit that apply button with confidence, knowing that we’re here for you every step of the way! We can't wait to hear from you. #LI-REMOTE
