They are seeking an Accountant to join their Oakville-based finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accountant will play a key role in day-to-day accounting activities, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, payroll support, tax filings, supplier payments and year-end activities. This is a hands-on position well suited to an accounting professional with approximately 2-3 years of experience, ideally within a manufacturing, distribution or inventory-based environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and supporting documentation for management review and approval. Complete monthly balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations. Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining appropriate supporting documentation. Review and verify cheque payments. Review Canadian and U.S. bank accounts on a daily basis. Support inventory maintenance, analysis and clean-up activities. Maintain inventory item information and investigate discrepancies. Review inventory standard costs and support inventory-related accounting activities. Prepare and maintain payroll databases. Review payroll information and analyze payroll for accuracy. Prepare and file GST/HST and CARM-related filings. Register machinery sales and maintain appropriate PPSA documentation relating to title and ownership. Track supplier payments relating to machinery purchases. Process payments for machinery, equipment and spare parts. Review employee expense reports for accuracy, appropriate documentation and tax treatment. Maintain control of specialized parts inventory and related invoicing. Complete year-end account analysis. Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors. Assist with ad hoc accounting and finance projects as required. Provide vacation and urgent coverage for Accounts Payable, including cheque processing. Provide coverage for Accounts Receivable activities, including bank deposits, account balances and exchange rates. Qualifications Approximately 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, industrial equipment or inventory-focused environment is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of account and bank reconciliations, journal entries and general accounting processes. Experience working with inventory and standard costing is highly desirable. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proactive approach with the ability to take initiative and follow through on responsibilities. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
