Engineering Manager — Mechanical Design The Company Our client is a respected name in industrial automation, with a track record of engineering high-precision equipment for manufacturers. The Opportunity Our client needs someone who can step into building and running a design team — setting technical direction, developing talent, and raising the department's overall standard of execution. You'll be the person who keeps the mechanical design function moving: resourcing it properly, coaching the people in it, and constantly making it better. Responsibilities Build and lead a team of mechanical designers Conduct performance conversations, development plans, hiring input Establish standards for CAD, GD&T, and documentation practices Balance engineering resources and priorities across automation projects Keep engineering changes (ECR/ECO) properly tracked and documented Work closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and purchasing teams to keep projects on schedule Push ongoing improvements in how the team designs, documents, and standardizes its work Requirements 5+ years designing mechanical systems for automated, robotic, or custom-built machinery Experience leading or mentoring others, even informally CAD (SolidWorks a plus), GD&T, pneumatics, servo systems

What you’ll do

Requirements

Requires over 5 years of experience designing mechanical systems for automated or robotic machinery. Candidates must have experience mentoring others and proficiency in CAD, GD&T, pneumatics, and servo systems.
