Role Description The Personal Lines Broker is a full-time, on-site role based in Oakville, ON. This position is responsible for advising personal insurance clients, including home, auto, and other personal coverage, by assessing risks, recommending appropriate products, and ensuring policies meet client needs. Day-to-day tasks include responding to client inquiries, preparing quotes, processing new business, renewals, and endorsements, and maintaining accurate client records in brokerage systems. The broker will liaise with insurers to negotiate terms, resolve billing or claims issues, and stay current on product changes and underwriting guidelines. The role also involves proactive client outreach, cross-selling opportunities, and contributing to a positive, service-oriented team culture. Qualifications Strong client service and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, listen actively, and provide professional advice. Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including attention to detail, accurate documentation, and the capacity to handle multiple priorities. Comfort with technology and insurance management systems, including proficiency in standard office software (e.g., MS Office) and digital communication tools. Knowledge of personal lines insurance products and underwriting principles, with the ability to explain coverage options and policy terms in plain language. Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risk, interpret policy wording, and resolve client or billing issues efficiently. Relevant licensing or registration as required by provincial regulations (e.g., RIBO license), and commitment to ongoing professional development. Prior experience in a brokerage, insurance, or financial services environment is an asset; experience in personal lines insurance is strongly preferred. Ability to work effectively on-site in Oakville, ON, collaborating with colleagues and contributing to a respectful, inclusive workplace.
