Design Engineer – Mechanical / Industrial Equipment Location: Orangeville, ON | On-site | Full-time, Permanent We’re hiring a Design Engineer to join a growing industrial equipment manufacturer in Orangeville. This is not a drafting-only position. We’re looking for someone who can take a project from a customer requirement through to a complete, build-ready design package and understands how their designs will actually be fabricated, assembled and used in the field. You’ll work closely with operations and technical leadership on both custom equipment projects and standard product development. What You’ll Be Doing Design custom industrial equipment and mechanical assemblies using Autodesk Inventor Create detailed 3D models and complete production/fabrication drawings Prepare BOMs, tolerances, GD&T, weld callouts and fabrication notes Take customer requirements and translate them into practical, manufacturable solutions Manage drawing revisions, engineering changes and documentation Work directly with production to resolve design and fabrication challenges Improve existing designs for manufacturability, lead time and cost Support development and standardization of the company’s OEM product line Reverse engineer worn or obsolete equipment components when drawings are unavailable Take field measurements and recreate components for manufacturing Maintain accurate part, BOM and revision information within the ERP system Support service, parts and operations teams with technical questions and documentation What We’re Looking For Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline Approximately 3–5+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience Strong experience with Autodesk Inventor Experience designing industrial machinery, custom equipment, automation, conveyors, material handling equipment or fabricated assemblies Strong understanding of: Welding and weldments Machining Sheet metal / structural fabrication Mechanical assemblies GD&T and engineering drawings Experience producing complete drawing packages that can go directly to the manufacturing floor Experience working with BOMs, ERP systems and revision control Comfortable working directly with manufacturing, fabrication and shop-floor teams Able to manage projects independently and take ownership of designs from start to finish Experience with shot blast equipment, surface preparation equipment or heavy industrial machinery would be an asset, but it is not required.
