Job Description Seasonal Host – Notch8 Help us Make Special Happen this festive season at Notch8. As a Seasonal Host, you’ll be the first and last impression of the Notch8 experience, welcoming our guests with genuine warmth and setting the tone for a memorable visit. During one of the most vibrant times of the year, you’ll help create a seamless flow throughout the restaurant, thoughtfully managing reservations and seating while ensuring every guest feels recognized, welcomed and cared for. What’s in It for You Seasonal full-time opportunity from November 2026 to January 7, 2027 Inclusive, empowering and positive workplace where people are at the heart of everything we do Collaborate with passionate hospitality professionals committed to creating memorable guest experiences Access to global opportunities through our colleague travel and internal mobility programs Competitive starting wage of $26.10/hour Complimentary meals during your shift through the Colleague Dining Program Complimentary uniform laundering Opportunity to gain luxury hospitality experience within Vancouver’s iconic Castle in the City Participate in meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives What You’ll Be Doing Provide a warm, professional and engaging welcome and farewell to every guest Manage reservations, guest profiles, seating plans and waitlists accurately and efficiently Coordinate table assignments and restaurant flow in collaboration with Servers and restaurant leadership Anticipate guest needs and recognize special occasions, preferences and requests to help personalize the dining experience Answer telephone and in-person inquiries regarding reservations, menus, operating hours and hotel offerings Maintain current knowledge of Notch8 menus, seasonal features, promotions and hotel experiences Communicate guest preferences, dietary restrictions, allergies and special requests to the appropriate colleagues Assist with guest concerns thoughtfully and professionally, involving restaurant leadership when appropriate Maintain an organized, polished and welcoming host area throughout service Support the restaurant team during peak periods with table resets and other front-of-house duties as required Communicate effectively with Culinary and Front-of-House colleagues to support smooth and timely service Follow all applicable service, health, safety and sanitation standards Complete opening, closing and other assigned duties to support the overall success of Notch8 Qualifications You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have Previous Host, restaurant or guest service experience, preferably within a high-volume upscale restaurant or luxury hotel environment A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences A warm, confident and engaging presence with strong interpersonal skills Excellent communication and organizational abilities Experience with OpenTable or another restaurant reservation system is an asset Experience with a Point of Sale (POS) system is an asset Ability to manage reservations, seating priorities and multiple guest requests in a fast-paced environment Ability to remain calm, gracious and solution-focused during busy service periods Strong attention to detail and the ability to anticipate guest needs A collaborative, team-first approach Reliability, punctuality and professional presentation Valid Serving It Right certification, if required for the duties of the position Professional fluency in spoken and written English; additional languages are an asset Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays As this role supports our peak festive season, preference will be given to candidates who can commit to the full seasonal period from November 2026 through January 7, 2027, including weekends and holidays. Physical Requirements Constant standing and walking throughout the shift Frequent reaching, bending and movement throughout the restaurant Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 20 lbs Regular pushing and pulling associated with restaurant setup and service Regular use of stairs and ramps Physical stamina to remain active and guest-facing throughout a fast-paced service period Additional Information Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
