Taylor Ryan are delighted to be exclusively partnering with Acres Enterprises as they look to add an experienced Senior Controller to their Corporate Services team and lead the accounting and financial reporting function of a diversified construction company with approximately $70 million in annual revenue. Reporting to the President, this role is responsible for the integrity of the company's financial reporting, cash flow management, internal controls, and accounting operations across multiple operating companies. Working closely with senior leadership, the Senior Controller will provide timely financial insight, strengthen financial discipline, improve reporting, and support operational decision-making. This role is ideal for an experienced Controller who enjoys building strong financial processes, developing people, and continuously improving how finance supports the business. The Role: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analyses. Manage job costing, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, intercompany accounting, and project financial performance. Partner with project and operational leaders to provide financial insights that support planning, profitability, and informed decision-making. Strengthen working capital management, maintain strong internal controls, and ensure the integrity of financial information. Coordinate annual audits, tax compliance, banking relationships, and bonding requirements. Champion the effective use of Microsoft Business Central and support continuous improvement through automation, business intelligence, and process enhancements. Collaborate with internal technology teams to improve financial reporting, dashboards, data integrity, and ERP governance. Support the Vice President with departmental planning, strategic initiatives, and the ongoing evolution of finance systems and processes. The Candidate: CPA designation with 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Previous Controller or Senior Controller experience, with the ability to lead a senior finance function. Experience in construction, development, or project-based accounting. Strong knowledge of job costing, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and multi-entity financial reporting. Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, banking relationships, and external audits. Advanced Excel, financial modelling, and ERP systems experience; Power BI or similar business intelligence tools are an asset. Strong understanding of financial controls, data governance, and process improvement through technology and automation. Ability to partner with operational leaders to provide financial insight that supports planning, profitability, and business performance. Demonstrated leadership, sound business judgment, and excellent communication skills. Self-motivated, accountable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment focused on continuous improvement.
